Move incoming mail
Switch MX safely after preparing your inboxes.
Changing MX routes future incoming mail. It does not import old messages or move your website.
Before switching
- Add the domain and prepare every address you need, including shared addresses. The free plan includes two addresses; upgrade for unlimited addresses if you need more.
- Complete ownership and sending records in Connect domain.
- Save old MX names, values, priorities and TTL for rollback.
- Keep access to the old provider during the transition.
Switch MX
Open the Receiving step in guided setup. At the authoritative DNS host, replace the old mail-routing MX set with the records shown by MailMoose.
Do not leave the old provider as a supposed backup without deliberately designing that routing. Lower priority numbers are tried first; multiple providers do not automatically synchronize inboxes.
Test both providers
Use Check now. Send from an independent account and reply. Check the old provider while caches expire: some senders may still deliver there.
Propagation depends on previous TTLs and sender caches, not a fixed one-hour window. Keep the old service until the transition is confirmed.
Roll back if necessary
Restore the saved MX set at the same DNS host. Rollback also takes time. Messages already delivered stay at their provider; switching MX does not merge them.
