Resend pricing in 2026: what it costs with many domains
Resend starts free, then $20 or $90 a month. Here are the rules that catch people out, and the real bill once you run many domains and inboxes.
Resend is free for 3,000 emails a month on up to 3 domains. After that, Pro costs $20 a month for 50,000 emails and 10 domains, and Scale starts at $90 a month for 100,000 emails and 1,000 domains. If you send a lot from a few domains, that's very good value.
If you run many projects, the bill works differently. It starts to follow your domains and inboxes rather than your emails, and that's the part most pricing guides skip.
A note on bias: we build MailMoose, which competes with Resend for people with many projects, and some of our own domains still send through Resend. We've tried to be fair, so there's a section below on where Resend is the better deal.
How much does Resend cost?
| Plan | Per month | Emails a month | Domains | Inboxes | Extra emails |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 3,000, at most 100 a day | 3 | 3 | Not available |
| Pro | $20 or $35 | 50,000 or 100,000 | 10 | 3 | $0.90 per 1,000 |
| Scale | $90 to $1,150 | 100,000 to 2.5 million | 1,000 | 3 | $0.90 to $0.46 per 1,000 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Flexible | Flexible | Custom |
These are the prices on Resend's pricing page on November 4, 2026. They do change, so check there before you decide.
Three add-ons change the bill:
- More domains: $20 a month adds 100 domains, on paid plans.
- More inboxes: $1 a month for each inbox past the first 3, on paid plans. The free plan stops at 3.
- A dedicated IP: $30 a month on Scale, once you send more than 3,000 emails a day.
Marketing email is priced separately, by contacts rather than emails: free up to 1,000 contacts, then from $40 a month for 5,000. The rest of this post is about transactional email and inboxes.
Is Resend free?
Yes. The free plan gives you 3,000 emails a month, 3 domains and 3 inboxes, with no credit card. It's a generous plan, and for one small project it may be all you ever need.
The limit you'll hit first is the daily one: 100 emails a day, resetting at midnight UTC. Received email counts toward it too.
Older guides still say the free plan includes 1 domain. Resend raised it to 3 in August 2026.
What counts as an email?
More than you might expect. Three rules from Resend's quota docs decide what you pay:
- Every recipient counts. One email to 3 people in To, Cc or Bcc counts as 3.
- Received email counts. Each email you receive counts as 1, the same as one you send.
- Extra email comes in buckets of 1,000. On the $20 Pro plan, your 50,001st email costs $0.90.
Extra email is opt-in: you turn on Transactional Overages in your team settings. Without it, Resend notifies you and offers an upgrade when you pass your quota. With it, your card is charged as you go, up to 5 times your monthly quota by default. After that, sending pauses until your next billing cycle.
What does Resend cost with many domains?
Your bill moves in three steps, even if you send very little:
- A 4th domain or inbox takes you off the free plan, so the bill starts at $20 a month.
- Every inbox past 3 adds $1 a month.
- An 11th domain adds the $20 add-on, which takes you to 110 domains.
Here's what that adds up to each month next to MailMoose, before tax. The cheaper option in each row is in bold.
| You run | Resend | MailMoose |
|---|---|---|
| 1 project1 domain, 2 inboxes, 1,000 sent, 500 received | $0Free plan | $10.50 |
| 3 projects3 domains, 3 inboxes, 2,000 sent, 500 received | $0Free plan | $13.50 |
| 5 projects5 domains, 6 inboxes, 1,000 sent, 1,000 received | $23Pro $20 + 3 extra inboxes $3 | $10.50 |
| 14 projects14 domains, 23 inboxes, 2,000 sent, 3,000 received | $60Pro $20 + 20 extra inboxes $20 + 100 extra domains $20 | $13.50 |
| One busy app1 domain, 3 inboxes, 50,000 sent | $20Pro $20 | Not built for this |
The 14 domains and 23 inboxes are what we were juggling before we built MailMoose. The email counts are examples, so try your own in the calculator at the end.
These bills count real inboxes that people or agents read and reply from. If your app only processes incoming mail through webhooks, you may not need them: Resend receives mail for any address on a receiving domain.
Where Resend is the better deal
Plenty of people should simply use Resend.
- A few small projects. Nothing beats $0. Our free plan is much smaller: 50 sends and 250 received emails a month, on 1 domain with 2 inboxes.
- Sending volume. Pro works out at $0.40 per 1,000 emails, and extra sends on MailMoose cost $3 per 1,000. With up to 10 domains and 3 inboxes, Resend Pro is cheaper than us from about 4,200 sends a month.
- High sending rates. Paid Resend plans have no daily limit. We cap sending at 100 recipients an hour by default, so we're the wrong tool for big sends.
- Marketing email. Resend has contacts and broadcasts. We don't do newsletters.
- Teams. Our paid plan is for one person today, and team plans are still on the way.
Where MailMoose is the better deal
We built MailMoose for the opposite case: many projects, modest volume.
- Domains and inboxes cost nothing extra. The paid plan is $9 a month or $90 a year, plus VAT, with unlimited domains and inboxes.
- Receiving has its own allowance. You get 500 sends and 5,000 received emails a month, counted separately, so a busy support inbox can't use up your sends.
- The bill can't grow on its own. Extra usage is prepaid, at $3 per 1,000 sends and $0.50 per 1,000 received, with no automatic top-ups. The trade-off: when you run out, sending pauses and new mail is held rather than delivered, so top up when our warning emails arrive.
- Every domain lands in one inbox. You read and answer everything in one place, and your AI agent can do the same over MCP. Resend's inboxes connect to agents through MCP too, so this one comes down to which product you prefer.
Which should you pick?
- Resend Free if you have up to 3 domains and stay under 100 emails a day.
- Resend Pro if you send more than a few thousand emails a month from up to 10 domains.
- Resend Scale if you need hundreds of domains at high volume, or a dedicated IP.
- MailMoose if you run more than 3 projects, want real inboxes on them, and send a few thousand emails a month or less.
Still not sure? Put in your own numbers. This is the calculator from our pricing page, and it says so when Resend comes out cheaper.
